About Dawn Ireland

Dawn Ireland began public speaking in her role as President of CDH International, a non-profit organization that she founded as CHERUBS in 1995 to help patient families of children born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia.

Her first foray into public speaking began while representing the organization in Business Networking International and then quickly grew to speaking at medical conferences.  She also often gives live speeches on social media on various topics, including her charity work, travel and her inspirational story of surviving the loss of her only child to build an international research and advocacy organizational.

Ms. Ireland has been keynote speaker at 8 international medical conferences since 2018, authored or co-authored 5 books, authored federal legislation, represented the cause through travel in 23 countries and been interviewed on television and in multiple publications. 

She has been President of CDH International for over 25 years, overseeing services for 6500 patients in 73 countries, conducting and participating in research and serving on various governmental and research committees.  

She also is a founding member of the Rare Advocacy Movement and is a member of GICS, ELSO, WOFAPS, Global Genes, EURORDIS, CORD and many other medical associations and is on committees working with the World Health Organization, National Institutes of  Health, Global Initiative for Children's Surgery and Congenital Anomalies work groups.
